The Age of Chaucer is that of the fourteenth-century, one in which many changes emerged as a result of religious, political, and social unrest. For one, the Black Death had wiped out a large portion of Europe's population. The Hundred Years' War had also continued in this time, and writers such as Chaucer helped spread the English language. Popular works during this time include The Canterbury Tales, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and Beowulf.
