Endocytosis describes the process of capturing a substance or particle from outside the cell by engulfing it using the cell membrane, and then bringing it inside the cell. It is the way by which many microorganisms obtain their food.

Exocytosis describes the process of vesicles fusing with the plasma membrane and releasing their contents to the outside of the cell. This is the process by which many microorganisms excrete.

Both of them are cellular processes which help a microbe to obtain food and throw out waste material. These processes are important for a microbe to survive.
