Some important points
The theory according to which the upper layer of the earth is divided into seven major and minor plates is called Theory of plate tectonics.
Convergent Boundary
When two tectonic plates move towards each other they form Convergent Boundary.
Divergent Boundary
When two tectonic plates move away from each other they form Divergent Boundary.
Transform Boundary
Transform boundaries are places where plates slide sideways past each other.
Formation of Himalayas...
1. The convectional current resulted in the split of crust into several pieces.
2. Due to this the Indo-Australia plate moved towards north.
3. This northward drift resulted in the collision of this plate with Eurasian plate.
4. Due to this Tethys were folded.
5. And Himalayas were formed.
There are other important terms and definition.....These are..
●Difference between Eastern Ghats and Western Ghats.
●Difference between Eastern coastal plain and Western coastal plain.
◆Note on Himalayas and it's three ranges - Himadri, Himachal and Shiwalik.
●Difference between Khadar and Bhangar.
◆Note on Northern plains.
◆Note on Purvanchal hills.
◆Note on Peninsular Plateau - Deccan Plateau and Central Highlands.
◆Note on Indian desert- Thar desert.
◆Note on Lakshadweep islands and Andaman and Nicobar islands.
●How different physiographic divisions are complementary to each other?
