An element is a pure substance which is made up of atoms of the same kind .

A compound is a pure substance which is made up of molecules of the same kind.

Element- It is a substance which is made up of same kind of atoms.
Eg. O2 , Fe etc.

Compounds - It is a substance which is made up of a group of elements and should be in a fixed proportion.
Eg. H2O, HCl etc.
