This is true because when a person laughs at something..it reflects on their perspective towards life itself.

For example, if a person laughs at their inferiors or people less privileged than him/her, it shows that the person is very vain and arrogant. If a person laughs at his troubles, it shows that he is strong in midst of his troubles also.
