2x^2 + 18x + 40=0
for solving a quadratic equation,
first multiply the coeffecient of
x^2 and the given constant number.
here 2*40=80
the u should split the product you have got into two terms
in that manner when u add the splitened numbers you should get the coeffecient of the term x.
here if u split 80 into 8*10, if u add them u r getting 18
so, 2x^2+8x+10x+40=0
take the common terms,
     2x(x+4)+10(x+4)=0
     (2x+10)(x+4)=0
hence 2x+10=0    and x+4=0
                   2x=-10            x=-4
                    x=-5
the zeros of coeffecients are x=-4 and x=-5

swapnil67: thanks shruthi
SruthiMohan: no need yaar...if u are clear then thats enough
