Conventional sources of energy are non-renewable sources of energy such as coal, water power, petroleum, and natural gas. These are resources on the earth which when depleted cannot be replaced over time.
Non-conventional sources of energy are renewable sources of energy such as solar energy, wind power, and tidal energy. These sources can be used for long as they are not easily depleted.
Nowadays Government is promoting the use of non-conventional energy sources for the following reasons.
- To provide an alternative to the non-renewable energy sources which are getting fast depleted like the natural gas.
- They are cheaper compared to conventional sources such as petroleum.
- The non-conventional source of energy are Eco-friendly and thus are safe for the environment.
- The use of non-conventional energy prevents the exploitation of conventional energy.
