The first digit of the answer must be 1,2 or 3 because if it were any greater then multiplying it with three would give an answer which has more then 6 digits.

So lets start with keeping the first no. as 1 ...

So the number must be like this: 1 a z y x b.(the letters are variables.)

After multiplying 1 a z y x b with 3 the answer must be a z y x b 1.

Thus b*3 must have 1 in the units place so the value of b will be 7.

Therefore b=7

We can now write the number as: 1 a z y x 7

Now in order to find the values of a, z, y and x please see the beautiful and systematic working done by me below:)

So the number we get by using the values for a, z, y, x and b is :

142857

which when we multiply with 3 we get:

428571.
