I don’t even have to list the first five prime numbers to tell you the median: we only need the first three.
That’s because the median is the value separating the higher half of a data sample from the lower half. More simply, it’s the ‘middle’ value when they’re arranged in ascending order. Since the prime numbers are being listed in order, the middle value of the five is the third prime number.
The first three prime numbers are 2, 3, and 5, so 5 is the median. (The next two primes are 7 and 11, in case you were curious).
