Solution:-

Let the no. be 'x'⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  3x - 21 = 27

= 3x = 27 + 21

= 3x = 48

= x = 48/3

= x = $\sf \cancel \dfrac{48}{3}$

$= \sf\dfrac{16}{1}$

∴ The required no. = 16

Verification:-

  3 × 16 - 21 = 27

= 48 - 21 = 27

= 27 = 27
