Given info : on box of volume 9cm³ is immersed in a spirit of density 0.9 g/cm³. Taking accelelation due to gravity to be 1000 cm/s².

To find : the upthrust acting on the box is ...

solution : Upthrust = volume of box × acceleration due to gravity × density of liquid

here volume of box = 9 cm³

density of liquid = 0.9 g/cm³

and acceleration due to gravity = 1000 cm/s²

so, Upthrust = 9 × 1000 × 0.9 Dyne

= 8100 Dyne ( cgs unit of force is Dyne )

Therefore the Upthrust acting on the box is 8100 dyne.
