During the Mutiny, he stayed true to his salt. He rose from Sepoy to Subedar, but only reached the latter position when he was too old to fulfill his functions.
• He claims to have been injured seven times, taken once in prison and earned six medals. He went on to write the story of his encounters in favor of the always incomprehensible British at the end of this long and interesting career at the request of his last Commanding Officer.
