O is a point on the ground chosen as origin. A body first suffers a displacement of 10√2 m North-East, next 10 m north and finally Northwest. How far it is from the origin?

Hii dear,

# Answer- 30 m

# Explaination-
Looking at the diagram, body moves in directions A-B-C-D.
Now, we know,
AB = 10√2 m
BC = 10 m
CD = 10√2 m

sin 45 = l1/AB
1/√2 = l1/10√2
l1 = 10 m

l2 = BC = 10 m

sin 45 = l3/CD
1/√2 = l3/10√2
l3 = 10 m

Total distance = l1+l2+l3
l = 10+10+10 = 30 m

Hope this is helpful...

Refer figure

S1= Displacement= 10  √2 due N-E

= (10i + 10 j) m

S2=10m due north = 10j

S3=10√ 2 m due N--W=-10i +10j

Final displacement= s1+s2+s3= 10i+10j+10j-10i+10j

=30j=30m due north
