Medical waste encompasses many things such as dry, wet, blood, bodily fluids etc.  Each one requires a special method of handling and disposal.  Many health care facilities deal with each one in a controlled way.  They are collected separately based on the type of medical waste it is (Bandages, Needles).  They then contract with a specialty company that takes those and processes them in a controlled way to destroy them.  Managing such waste requires specific policies to be in place and followed.
