Separation process is a method that converts a mixture or a chemical substance into 2 or more distinct products, of which atleast one product is mixture.

Many types of separation techniques are used at home. They include:

1.       Straining – Separation of tea leaves from a liquid decoction by using a strainer.

2.       Churning – Milk or curd is churned to separate butter.

3.       Sieving – to separate husk from flour.

4.       Threshing – to separate grain from stalks.

5.       Gin is also used to seeds from fibre.

6.       Winnowing – to separate sand, sawdust, or dry leaves from grains etc.
