Complete burning gives almost a colorless flame. Color gets added when the burning is not complete. Complete burning needs excess air/oxygen. The set up of the gas stove allows for air to mix with gas before burning. The candle doesn’t have that mechanism. Incomplete burning gives the yellow coloration. You can collect the evidence, by putting a metal spoon on the top of the candle flame. It will get coated by black soot, the incompletely burnt residue of wax.
