Starch grains are different in individuals that can be identified by presence of hilum, lamellae, vacuoles,Extinction cross.
Hilum-The core of the grain is called hilum.
Lamellae-This is called as the growth layers.
Vacuole-Found in some grain.
Extinction cross-This is the dark cross pattern which is rotating when polarized light is used. This is also called as Maltese cross.
Ex- Rice starch granule( very small),Potato starch granule( Diameter upto 100 micrometer),Wheat starch (granular in shape)
