The second, or sweep, hand moves relatively quickly, taking a full minute (sixty seconds) to make a complete rotation from 12 to 12. For every rotation of the second hand, the minute hand will move from one minute mark to the next. The minute hand rotates more slowly around the dial.

Answer:

For a second hand of length 1m, speed will be 0.052ms^{-1}

Explanation:

Second hand like the other hands of the clock moves in a circle.

Speed of a second is different at different lengths of the hand. Therefore, it is more convenient to define its angular speed.

One complete circle contains 360^o angle or 2 pi radians angle.

Second hand complete a full circle in 60sec.

Angular velocity = \frac{angle traversed}{time taken} = \frac{2.\pi}{60} = 0.052rad/sec

or

Angular velocity = \frac{360}{60}=6^o/sec

Let's say that the length on the second hand is 1 meter.

Then, speed of the tip of the hand will be = 0.052 rad/s * 1m = 0.052ms^{-1}
