Time line of National Council of Educational Research and Training :-


The National Council of Educational Research and Training was established on 1 September 1961.


The Council replaced the activities of seven existing national government institutions, like:


1)Central Institute of Education,


2) the Central Bureau of Textbook Research,


3) the Central Bureau of Educational and


4)Vocational Guidance,Based on the directives of the Education Commission (1964-66), the first national policy on education was issued in 1968.


The policy endorsed the adoption of a uniform pattern of school education across the country.


Ten-year school curriculum adopted in 1975.


This curriculum was formulated based on research work. National Curriculum for Elementary and Secondary Education adopted in 1988 after the National Policy on Education came.


It comprised 12 years of school education and suggested a reorientation to make it child-centered. National Curriculum Framework adopted in 2000.


It stressed the need for a healthy, enjoyable and stress-free childhood learning.


National Curriculum Framework: came up with a new National Curriculum in 2005, which was drafted by a National Steering Committee.


This exercise was based on the following guidelines principles:


1) connecting knowledge to outside school life.


2) shift from the remote method of teaching.


3)enriching the curriculum .


4)making examinations flexible


5)nurturing an identity .
