Climate much influences the occupational structure of the region. Western India experiences the scanty rainfall, so it becomes dry region and not fit for primary activities. Therefore, they involve in secondary activities like weaving, precious stone cutting, pottery, etc. and tertiary activities like caravan trade in desert region and sea trade between the countries.
In Meditteranean climate, citrus fruits are growing well in this region so wine manufacturing is prevalent. So both grape farming (primary activity) and manufacturing wine (secondary activity) developed together because of unique climate.
