The satisfactory features of our land use pattern of our country is the Barren and Waste land has reduced from 12.01% ( 1960 - 61) to 6.29% ( 2002 - 03).

Land under forest has changed marginally . Forest area is 22.54% which is far lower than the desired 33% as outlined in the National Forest Policy ( 1952 )
