"Of course, reflex arcs have evolved in animals because the thinking
process of the brain is not fast enough In fact many animals have very
little or none of the complex neuron network needed for thinking. So it is
quite likely that reflex arcs have evolved as efficient ways of functioning
in the absence of true thought processes. However, even after complex
neuron networks have come into existence, reflex arcs continue to be
more efficient for quick responses." Meaning please

Explanation:

I would like to explain with an example. Have you ever tried to pickup a hot utensil and immediately drop it because it was hot? If yes, you may have noticed that it is after a few seconds that you understand what just happened. You have a moment like "oh, I seem to have just dropped it, and that my finger is burning". This is your brain comprehending what just happened. It has taken time to understand what happened. If it were the case that a reflex did not exist, you would have burnt your finger completely as your brain would have taken time to receive information, process it and give out a response.

In short, reflex arcs are the best choice, and the body's choice, for and urgent quick responses. They help you with such situations. They allow for quick action when and where needed without employing the brain and as a result losing out on precious time.

This is what the paragraph is trying to say. Brains have a complex network of neurons, making processing information time consuming which sometimes is disadvantageous.

Hope it helps you!!
