Let the number be x and y then, x+y=9......(1) and x^2-y^2=9 ......(2) Adding 1 and 2, x+y+x^2-y^2=9+9. fr >>x+y+(x-y)(x+y)=18 then, x+y+x-y=18/9(Since x+y=9) then 2x=2 then x=2/2=1 now putting value of x in 1 we get 1+y=9 then y=9-1=8
