Correct Question :

Out of the 3 numbers whose average is 66. The first number is equal to the sum of other 2 numbers. Find the first number.

AnswEr :

Let the Numbers be a, b and, c.

» 1st No. = Sum of Other Two

» a = b + c — eq.( 1 )

According to the Question Now :

⇒ Average = Sum of Numbers / Total No.

⇒ 66 = ( a + b + c ) / 3

⇒ 66 × 3 = ( a + b + c )

⇒ ( a + b + c ) = 198

⇒ ( b + c ) + b + c = 198 — [from ( 1 )]

⇒ 2b + 2c = 198

⇒ 2( b + c ) = 198

⇒ ( b + c ) = 198 / 2

( b + c ) = 99

⋆ From Eq.( 1 ) a = ( b + c ) = 99

First Number of this Average is 99.
