1.Helen was a ghost. Whenever she appeared, it was in bits and pieces. The reason was that she had been kept busy at the Ouija Board Party by the woman of the Book Club. She was too tired to appear as a whole. Also she wanted to attract Johns attention on her.
2.The Judgement Day is the imagined day at the end of the world when God will judge everyone who has lived. According to each human soul’s deeds, God will grant immortality or condemnation. The poet’s friend will achieve immortality through God on the Judgement Day. He will feel extremely elated and joyous. He will also feel grateful to Shakespeare, his friend for having preserved memory of his noble deeds in the rhyme from one generation to another, thus keeping his friend alive until the Judgement Day.
3.Miss Mebbin was a very selfish, mean, and unethical lady. She was a real Mammon worshiper. It appears as if money was the sole purpose of her existence. She always adopted a protective elder-sister attitude towards money. In her presence, she would not allow any money be wasted in tips to waiters. She showed mean professional ethics, when she blackmailed Mrs Packletide. No doubt she succeeded in extorting 680 pounds, but she must have earned a bad reputation among her clients.
4.He was having a great interest in computers, he was fascinated by the computers that could do anything from paint, playing music, playing games and do the homework. He had a computer with pentium 150 mhz, and with nice specifications. Also he taught his son Michael that a computer couldn't forget anything from its memory, these all shows that he is fascinated by the computers.
5.The poet that is D.H.Lawrence says that he has something to expiate .
By this he means that he is full of remorse and has something to regret in his life.
He regrets his silly and wanton act of throwing a log of wood on the harmless snake that had just come to poets water trough to quench it's bursting thirst .
Thus he even blames his bookish knowledge and accursed human education that has told him to kill the venomous snake.
Also the poet says that he missed an opportunity to fascinate entertain and host the wonderful guest that had come to his place and the earth brown snake was a wonderful creation of the God.
