Offsets are produced by asexually reproducing plants. This is a form of reproduction in which the daughter plant is genetically identical to the parent plant that is, they are clones. They are formed at the meristematic regions of the plant and are found commonly in bulbs, corns and tubers where food storage is in the form of underground organs.

The offsets in the plant are also called as the clone because they are genetically and virtually identical to the mother plant. They form in the axillary bud (Meristem region) of the mother plant through asexual reproduction.

The offsets have the ability to grow and be sustain like the mother plant. These offsets are commonly found in the plants which have an underground storage organ like Onion. These offsets can be detached from their mother plant and can be grown separately as they possess the ability to grow alone like their mother.
