Question

Okay so random question that one of my school classmates have asked me. He asked that if you were to cut your leg off because it was hurting, would you still feel pain. I said yes, but he said where?, your foot is gone. My question is you would feel pain, but it would be felt within the nerves that have been cut off of your foot right?
