Answer:

The story is about a very old man who is spending his last couple of hours of his life. He is all alone in his mediocre house since his wife passed away. He writes his will to a charity trust and places it on the table next to his bed. He takes the trouble of getting up and walking with his stick, shivering and weak. He has a cup of tea which he’s been having for the past few years of loneliness. He stands in his living room as those nostalgic moments start to haunt him; the photographs hung up on the wall. An empty chocolate box is kept on the table below the photos. A tag attached to it reads ‘happy anniversary dear. Love you forever.’ He holds the box, remembering their togetherness.

Something strikes him, as if he remembered something, which earlier slipped off his mind. He keeps the box back and starts walking into the darkness of the hallway. With great difficulty, he climbs the flight of stairs which lead to the attic. He sits down to rest for a while, and then continues to climb up. Finally, he reaches the attic, where the couple’s belongings were dumped a long time ago. When he switches the light on, a dim light is draped on old, rusted articles arranged in a particular fashion. He looks around as he slowly walks into the place. The bulb starts to flicker and blacks out all of a sudden; but lights back up in a second, this time, a little brighter. On one of the shelves to the wall, a small garden pot sits, with a few withered and spoilt flowers. He touches them passionately, blind to the fact that they’ve aged, he assumes they’ve just blossomed into beautiful flowers. He then gains sight to an old box kept among many other big cardboard boxes. He opens it and starts to take things out of it one by one. He first takes out a stuffed pony toy in pink; and chuckles. He goes through her belongings where he finds barbies, dress up toys, lip stick, etc. He then comes across a photograph of his wife when she was in her teens. At the bottom of the photograph is a writing which reads, “I’ll come back for you”. For some time now, the bulb above has been flickering incessantly and blacks out for good. Suddenly, he hears the attic door being opened. He looks back at the doorway, a bright aura seeps into the room and falls on him. He slowly faces the doorway with utmost bliss and joy, as if he was expecting what is happening. He keeps the photograph aside and sits on his knees, tears rolling down his face, tears of joy. A womanly figure seems to walk in through the aura of light, wanting to reach out to him and hold his hand. Her hand nears his, and with the least contact, the aura disappears. The old man is not there anymore, just the attic with things lying around.

Old is Gold - This is a famous saying it stands for that thing which is with us for the longest and best one.

EXPLANATION-

With this saying, I stuck by an incident happened with me a decade ago. It was the first day of mine in a new school where I was all new. I was so excited to join this renowned school in my town. This school holds eminence goodwill. It was my dream to study it to groom my knowledge and personality to the highest self.

I remember as entered in class I saw one of the good friends. But, I did go to her instead I went to my new friend and neighbor Swati. Swati and I were good friends. We use to go to school, tuitions and craft classes together. So, I did talk to Richa much. Also, sometimes with Swati, I use to insult her as I don't wanna lose my new friend. In that year's summer break, I facture my right knee and left-hand wrist. So, I was not able to complete my project work and homework. Therefore, decided to seek help from Swati but she denied me give several excuses. One day at the hospital, Rocha's mom and I and my mother met. So, my mother and she had a conversation about my condition. On the same day, in the evening Richa came to me to ask how I was doing?

We had a 2 hour long conversations.  We that day once again reminded each how we use to play and do our homework when we were best friends. I said her sorry for my rude behavior to her in the school. She said I understand your situation to keep her as our friend and I didn't mind. Also, she offered me her help to complete my homework and projects. She uses to come every at my place and help to complete my homework.

That day I said to her, today I believe in the saying that "Old is Gold" because at the time of crisis you old belonging is the one who gives you a helping hand.
