(i) In the given circuit, 8 Ω and 12 Ω are connected in parallel.

∴ $\sf\dfrac{1}{R_1}=\dfrac{1}{8}+\dfrac{1}{12}=\dfrac{3+2}{24}={5}{24}$

$\:\:\:\:\:\sf{R_1}=4.8\:ohm.$

Total resistance = 4.8 + 7.2 = 12 ohm
