The Process of Unification of Italy is as follows : During the middle of the 19th century, Italy was divided into seven states, of which only Sardinia-Piedmont was ruled by an Italian princely house. The Frankfurt Parliament, which was convented in 1848, was the first major step taken towards the unification of German states.
