on a sunny day a tower cast a 30m long shadow. An iron rod dug vertically also casts it's shadows as far as that of the tower. If the height of the rod above the ground is 2m and it is dug 3m from the tip of the shadow towards the tower, find the height of the tower

Answer:

Height of Tower = 20 m

Explanation:

on a sunny day a tower cast a 30m long shadow. An iron rod dug vertically also casts it's shadows as far as that of the tower. If the height of the rod above the ground is 2m and it is dug 3m from the tip of the shadow towards the tower, find the height of the tower'

As Shadow tip Matches of both ( iron rod & Tower)

so Angle of elevation for Tower  & Iron Rod Would be same

Let say α is angle of elevation

Tan α = Perpendicular / Base

=> Tan α =  Height of Iron  Rod/Shadow of Iron Rod

=> Tan α = 2 /3

Tan α =  Height of Tower/Shadow of Tower

=> 2/3 = Height of Tower/30

=> Height of Tower = 20 m
