On a sunny day, does a bird or an aeroplane flying high in the sky cast its shadow on the ground? Under what circumstances can we see their shadow on the ground?

When it comes to birds, they are too small! So, their shadow is distorted by the light sources around. But in the case of aircraft, as it is huge they cast a shadow however you can’t normally see (unless you are close to the airport) due to many factors.

When an aircraft is flying at an altitude of 40,000 feet about the ground, the shadow it cast would also be vast and widespread!

Let's do an experiment and refresh Physics a bit. Take an object (say pencil) and light a candle.

Now place the object in front of the candle. You can see a shadow on the wall Right! Now, move the object towards the light source (Candle) and see what happens to the shadow? (It will spread more on the wall and will be dissolved than before).
Now move the pencil as close to the wall! What do you see now (A thick shadow, which is more visible right?)
Now, light more than one candle around the object and see if you can spot the shadow on the wall? (No right?). This is because, when there are many light sources around there can be no shadow
