As we know Newton's third law,any action will have equal and opposite reaction
Which means that when a body is in rest , the resultant forces on the body must be 0
and cannot be said as no force is acting on it.
If the resultant of the forces is not 0 then the acceleration of the particle can be determined.
for instance, for weight or gravitational pull, we can have normal force if it is in contact with ground or floor, if not tension in the string.from the given examples. In some cases,one force is possible,such as freely falling body( gravity or "mg")
