If u cut a magnet from middle. The ferromagnetic field caused by the movement of electron within the material structure...continuous with the divides form..according to theory like charges and poles. Attract each other if ..north and south pole attract each other..but after rotating any one piece about 180* degree the north pole come on north side and south pole stay on south side ...so ,they become like. ..and according to theory..same poles repel each other...
Hope it helpful

When a bar magnet is cut into two pieces, why do they repel each other?
Like charges and magnetic poles repel each other, opposite charges and magnetic poles attract, these are basic properties of electromagnetism.
When you cut a bar magnet in half the ferromagnetic field caused by the alignment of electron movement within the material’s structure continues in the divide form
If left North to South the piece will continue to attract each other, but if you rotate a piece 180 degrees so that a North pole faces a North pole and/or a South pole faces a South pole, you will find they repel because they are like poles.
