on heating, ferrous sulphate crystals lose water and anhydrous ferrous sulphate(FeSo4) is formed . So their colour changes in to white from green .On further heating it changes in to ferrous oxide(Fe2O3)along with sulphur dioxide and sulphur trioxide

its smell is very bad and toxic

Ferrous Sulphate crystals generally occur in hydrated form with variable number of water of crystallization. When the crystals are heated, they disintegrate first and form an hydrous Ferrous Sulphate.
A change of colour is observed from green to white. It further decomposes to give gaseous products like Sulphur Dioxide and Sulphur Trioxide. These gases are extremely pungent in smell and suffocate.
These gases dissolve in water to form Sulphuric acid and two and a half times heavier than air.
