On solving the following couple of equation, we get the value of x is 5/x-1 +1 /y-2 =2 6/x-1 - 3/y-2 =1

then the equations are 5a+b=2  _ equ(i) and 6a-3b=1 _equ(ii)

applying equ(i)x3 +equ(ii), we have [using method of elimination]

15a+3b=6      

+6a-3b=1

=21a+0b=7 =>a = 1/3 => 1/x-1 = 1/3 =>x-1=3 =>x=4

putting a=1/3 in (ii)

6(1/3) - 3b =1

=> 2-3b=1

=> -3b=1-2

=> -3b= -1

=> b=-1/-3

=> 1/y-2=1/3

=> y-2 = 3

=> y= 3+2 = 5
