Answer:

Vasco Da Gama discovered the sea route in Calicut in Kerala in the year 1498.

Explanation:

  • Vasco da Gama was born in Sines of Portugal in the year 1460. Later, he joined the navy and he learnt navigation and worked as a sailor.
  • In the year 1497, the King Manuel I of the Portugal has commissioned with Vasco da Gama for finding a marine route towards the East.
  • He commanded a famous voyage known as “any ship he desired” later he has found to have discovered the sea route and sailed towards the Sao Gabriel with three ships called as Gabriel, Rafael and Michael in the year 1497.
  • He travelled with a crew member of 170 who originated from Lisbon in search of India.
  • They reached Calicut in Kerala in the year of May 20th, 1498 and ended by staying there for three months.
  • Vasco and his men crew ventured back to Portugal in the year 1498. This ocean route from Portugal to India was a good advantage and it turned to be a permanent route.
