Abstract
Morphological and DNA-marker (COI mtDNA) analyses allowed to identify the representatives of the brachyuran genus Pilumnus Leach, 1816 (Decapoda: Pilumnidae) occurring along the Russian Federation coastline of the Black Sea as Pilumnus aestuarii Nardo, 1869. Earlier taxonomic identifications (e.g. Pilumnus hirtellus (Linnaeus, 1761)) and suggested scientific names for specimens from the Black Sea should be probably considered as misidentifications or junior synonyms of P. aestuarii.
