Answer:
Leaf Filters are ideal for Solid-Liquid Separation & work on principle of Precoating & pressure. Pre coating is done with the help of suitable filter aid about 0.5 to 1% ( Bleaching earth , supercel, Hyflo, super flo etc.) mixed with the liquid to be filtered.

Pressure leaf filter works by feeding a liquid or dirty influent into a pressure vessel. This is done under high pressure.
- The liquid when passes through filter leaves leaves the solids behind in the form of a cake.
- The clean and filtered liquid leaves the filter by the manifold connecting all the filter leaves.
- The left behind filter cake is then discharged from the vessel either as a dry solid via vibration or by sluicing with a separate liquid.
- A pressure leaf filter is used for processing edible oil, pectin, gelatine, sugar or glucose.
- It is also used in biodiesel production.
