One day after being convicted of conspiracy with foreign powers and sentenced to death by the French National Convention, King Louis XVI is executed by guillotine in the Place de la Revolution in Paris. Louis XVI was guillotined because he tried to flee away from the French territory, as he was no more a true monarch. He and his wife tried to get away by disguising as slaves but were identified and so he was guillotined along his wife.
