On what pretext did the conspiration kill caesar

The conspirators killed Caesar on the pretext that he had grown ambitious. If he had been alive, he would have turned all the citizens into bondsmen. The love for their country and the citizens pushed them to murder Caesar.

According to the conspirators,Julius Caesar was killed for being ambitious. They interpreted that Caesar had become very ambitious and would soon become a dictator.As a result,the people of Rome would have to suffer.Hence,they decided to kill Caesar .
But the actual reason for killing him was that they (Cassius and other conspirators , except Decius Brutus) were jealous of Caesar , and also because Mettulus Cimber's plea was rejected by Caesar,
