Solution :-

(a) Point P lies on x-axis, since ordinate is zero.

(b) Point Q lies on y-axis, since abscissa is zero.

(c) Point R lies on x-axis, since ordinate is zero.

(d) Point S lies on y-axis, since abscissa is zero.

Explanation :-

→ x- coordinate is called the abscissa.

→ The y - coordinate is called ordinate.  

→ Every point on the x-axis has no perpendicular distance from the x-axis , so its ordinate is zero. Thus , the coordinates of every point on x - axis are of the form (x , 0).

→ Every point on the y-axis has no perpendicular distance from the y-axis , so its abscissa is zero. Thus ,the coordinates of every point on y- axis are of the form (0 , y).
