It can also defined as the charge required that will be responsible for a certain difference of potential between the plates of a condenser that results into a constant ratio to the difference of potential and the constant ratio will referred to the capacity of the condenser.

Thus the Capacitance depends on two factors:

1. Surface area of condenser plates :  Large surafce area support greater capacitance as it provide more surface area for the electrostatic forces. Thus surface area is directly proportional to the capacity of the condenser.

2. Distance between two plates: Capacitance has directly proportional relation with electrostatic force between the plates which means if the plates will be placed close together, the more will be the capacitance of condenser.Thus, distance between two plates is inversely porportional to the capacity of the condenser.
