Once when George and the narrator were passing Hampton Court Lock, a sad accident took place. It was a bright and sunny day. People were very happy. A photographer was taking photographs of the people passing the lock with the thought of earning money by securing orders for the photographs. When George and narrator were passing the lock along with other people on their boats, narrator observed that everyone was making poses; he was unable to understand! Then suddenly, he realized that the photographer was about to click the button of the camera. He asked George to make a pose too.
As both George and the narrator stood for a beautiful capturing, their boat got stuck under the woodwork of the lock. If they had not freed the nose of their boat from the woodwork, their boat might have sunk. The moment they realized this they rushed to free their boat. In the commotion of freeing the boat, they fell; at the same time the photographer clicked the photograph. When the negative came out, the photographer realized the photograph had been spoiled by George and narrator’s fall. Their feet had been clicked in the frame. Everyone cancelled the order. Thus, the photographer had to incur heavy financial loss!
