                                                 Hard work Pays

Once there lived a poor cobbler in a town. He lived with his wife and two sons in a small hut on the outskirts of the town. He would go every morning to the city market and sit there waiting for people to come to him to mend their shoes. His sons are growing up and the money he makes is barely enough for their education.

One day as he was sitting under a tree in front of the market, the cobbler started observing the styles of the footwear worn by youngsters. They were always simple designs but looked quirky and interesting. Then he collected interesting small beads, threads, colorful ribbons and glitter powder whenever he had a little money.

A girl came up to him one day to get her sandal mended and told him that she would return in a few hours. The cobbler mended her sandals and with a lot of trepedition, started decorating the sandal in very simple design without even taking the girl's permission. The girl returned in a couple of hours, and seeing her sandal in a different style, first glared at the cobbler with a serious face. As she tried it on, she found it interesting and her face broke into a wide smile. Her friends who were standing next to her also got curious and asked the cobbler to design their old sandals too. So the first day the cobbler came home with thrice the amount of money he otherwise made in a week. And soon he became popular in town as the man who made old shoes into new. And he became prosperous.

Once there lived a poor cobbler in a town.

The fellow had minimal clothes to wear and a family of a wife and a daughter.

There were people who came and went away; all he could see were feet.

Sometimes, few people dropped a penny, some more, he sews shoes and polished them.

All the while, he supported his daughter for studies.

There still lives that cobbler, but he no longer does the job, though he loves to be called like that.

His daughter calls him suddenly, saying, “Let us go to the countryside today, Dad. My clients are taking a break today.”

His daughter now owns a company, her father made it possible.
