One can calculate the drift speed of electrons for a typical copper wire carrying a small current, and it is found to be actually very small, of the order of 1 mm s-1. How is it then that an electric bulb lights up as soon as we turn the switch on?

Hey ❤️
Actually there is not only one electron in the wire , there are a lot of electrons thus when we turn on the switch the electron at negative terminal drifts as well as the electron in centre also drifts and so happenes with electron at positive terminal . So it's a wonderful chain system .
That is why bulb lights up as soon as we turn the switch !
