SOLUTION :

Given : Total number of cards in one Deck of cards = 52

Total number of outcomes = 52

(i) Let E1 = Event  of getting a king of red suit

Number of outcome favourable to E1 = 2

[There are four kings in a deck of playing cards out of which two are red and 2 or black]

Probability (E1) = Number of favourable outcomes / Total number of outcomes

P(E1) = 2/52 = 1/26

Hence, the required probability of getting a king of red suit , P(E1) = 1/26 .

(ii) Let E2 = Event  of getting a face card

Number of face card = 4 kings + 4 queen's + 4 jack's = 12

Number of outcome favourable to E2 = 12

Probability (E2) = Number of favourable outcomes / Total number of outcomes

P(E2) = 12/52 = 3/13

Hence, the required probability of getting a  face card , P(E2) = 3/13 .

(iii) Let E3 = Event  of getting a red face card

Number of red face card = 2 kings + 2 queen's + 2 jack's = 6

Number of outcome favourable to E3 = 6

Probability (E3) = Number of favourable outcomes / Total number of outcomes

P(E3) = 6/52 = 3/26

Hence, the required probability of getting a red face card , P(E2) = 3/26 .

(iv) Let E4 = Event  of getting a queen of black suit cards

Number of queen of black suit cards

= 2

Number of outcome favourable to E4 = 2

Probability (E4) = Number of favourable outcomes / Total number of outcomes

P(E4) = 2/52 = 1/26

Hence, the required probability of getting a  queen of black suit cards  , P(E4) = 1/26

(v) Let E5 = Event  of getting a jack of heart

Number of jack of heart = 1

Number of outcome favourable to E5 = 1

Probability (E5) = Number of favourable outcomes / Total number of outcomes

P(E5) = 1/52

Hence, the required probability of getting a  jack of heart , P(E5) = 1/52

(vi) Let E6 = Event  of getting a spade cards Number of a spade cards = 13

Number of outcome favourable to E6 = 13

Probability (E6) = Number of favourable outcomes / Total number of outcomes

P(E6) = 13/52 = 1/4

Hence, the required probability of getting a spade cards , P(E5) = 1/4

____SOLUTION_____

TOTAL NO. OF CARDS = 52

(1). RED SUIT KING = 2

PROBABILITY OF GETTING RED SUIT KING = 2/52

= 1/26

(2). TOTAL FACE CARDS = 12

PROBABILITY OF GETTING FACE CARD = 12/52

= 3/13

(3). TOTAL RED FACE CARDS = 6

PROBABILITY OF GETTING RED FACE = 6/52

= 3/26

(4). QUEEN OF BLACK SUIT = 2

PROBABILITY OF GETTING BLACK QUEEN = 2/52

= 1/26

(5). PROBABILITY OF GETTING JACK OF HEARTS = 1/52

(6). TOTAL SPADE = 13

PROBABILITY OF GETTING SPADE = 13/52

= 1/4
