One cat carries heterozygous, long-haired traits (Ss), and its mate carries homozygous short-haired traits (ss). Draw a Punnett square and write the probability of one of their offspring having long hair. (100%, 75%, 50% or 25%)

Homogeneous traits that the other cat carries = Short-haired traits (ss)

To find:

Draw a Punnett square and find the probability of one of their offspring having long hair.

Solution:

From the Punnett square we can conclude that, the probability of one of their offspring having long hair will be:

= (2/ 4) ×100% = 50%

Thus, the probability of one of their offspring having long hair will be 50%.
