Answer:

74 divided by 2, since a human is riding a horse = 37 humans

Then for the legs 196/4 since a horse has 4 legs =

49 horses

Answer:

Let the number of horses be x and the number of humans be y.

Now,

x+y = 74 (equation i)

Since, human has 2 legs and horse has 4 legs.

Therefore

4x + 2y = 196 ( equation ii)

Subtracting ii from 4 × i

4x + 4y - (4x + 2y) = 296 - 196

4x + 4y - 4x - 2y = 100

2y = 100

y = 50

&

Putting value of y in equation i

x + 50 = 74

x = 24

So there are 24 horses and 50 humans.
