let the present age of son be x and age of father be y
ATQ
y= 8(x-1)
y= x^2

then putting eqn 1 in 2
8x - 7 = x^2
x^2-8x+8=0
x= 4

Answer:

x^2-8x+7=0

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that now Father's age is equal to the square of my age.

Let the present age of Son be x

So, father's present age = x^2

1 year ago

Father'age = x^2-1

Son's age = x-1

We are given that one year ago, my dad was 8 times as old as me

x^2-1=8(x-1)

x^2-1=8x-8

x^2-8x+7=0

Hence he above situation in the form of a quadratic equation is x^2-8x+7=0
